Guernsey Museum has been working closely with London company Gamar Ltd to develop the educational app, which will initially work at museum and heritage sites.

The platform will mean islanders and visitors can access interactive trails, educational games and audio tours through their phones and tablets.

Head of heritage services Jason Monaghan said it had taken a couple of years to develop, but it was almost ready.

'I think it is really great to see it coming together,' he said.

'This is just the beginning and we are looking to do more.'

The Gamar app can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
