Deputy wants talks to rid Vale Avenue of eyesore houses

TALKS are being lined up in attempts to rid Vale Avenue of derelict homes homes owned by Guernsey Electricity.

Vale deputy Matt Fallaize said he wants to set up a meeting with the States-owned utility, planners and some of his fellow Vale States members to address the long-running issue of the eyesores.

Guernsey Electricity says it wants to demolish the dilapidated homes but is prevented by planning rules.

However, the Development & Planning Authority said the proposed new Island Development Plan would provide more flexibility and its Planning Service would work with the landowner to achieve a positive outcome.
