Natalie Liu and Andy Poat's dog, Penny, was bitten on the ear by a Staffordshire bull terrier near Vazon on 11 July.

The attack, which resulted in the owner of the other dog being taken to court, left the then-eight-month-old Rottweiler requiring surgery. The couple now want to try to prevent such an incident from happening again.

'Our message to dog owners is to take responsibility and take precautions to make sure things like this don't happen.'
