'One day the Bailiwick's post might be delivered by drone'

DRONES could be used to deliver post from Guernsey to Alderney, Sark and Herm in the future.

Guernsey Post is considering the move, chief executive Boley Smillie, pictured, told yesterday's Chamber of Commerce lunch, particularly for getting to the other Bailiwick islands.

'I sincerely doubt we will see drones delivering all over the island, but I do think it presents an interesting opportunity for connecting the islands,' he said.

'I don't think we're there yet or in the next 12 months, but technically it is an opportunity, and flying over sea feels a little bit more comfortable to me than flying over houses.'

Postal operations, including Canada Post, are investigating similar moves.
