Storm Angus creates tree domino effect

A DOMINO effect has hit the island's trees during Storm Angus and its aftermath, Treevolution owner Chris Stonebridge has said.

Published

This comes after a large number of trees have come down across the island, which Mr Stonebridge put down to wet, saturated ground and strong opposing winds coming from nearly all directions.

'In the last week we have had gale force winds from several different directions, which were different from the usual south-westerly prevailing wind.

'That combined with the saturated ground from the heavy rainfall the week before which has weakened the root plate structure,' he said.

Treevolution said it encouraged people to replant their fallen trees as they were essential to the island community and urged people to contact a professional tree surgeon if they had any issues.
