In the Magistrate's Court yesterday, the committee faced two charges from 7 December last year.

They relate to possibly exposing staff and members of the public to clinical waste, which included waste blood products and blood-borne viruses, at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

No pleas have been entered and the case was adjourned to January to allow further enquiries to be made.

Committee chief secretary Mark de Garis was in court to listen to the first hearing.

Afterwards he said he could not discuss the matter in detail, while the case was ongoing.
