Work in progress - Creative individuals given free rein to devise their own project

IT'S an ambitious and unique initiative – taking 10 creative people and giving them free rein to devise their own project. But rather than having them arrive at a defined destination, asking them to show their journey.

That was the premise laid out by the Gate House Gallery's Adam Stephens.

'I wanted to remind people about the creative process, I wanted to demystify it,' he explained. 'It's not just about the end product. I wanted to see everything, from the back of the envelope to the gallery wall. Ideas don't come fully formed in your head, you have to develop and experiment to get there.'

Today we profile three artists who are taking part. Others will be featured in future Arts pages.

Work in Progress will be at the Gate House Gallery, Elizabeth College, on Friday 19 May at 7pm to 28 May at 3pm. Work can be seen at https://www.facebook.com/thegatehousegallery/.
