Ray eases away to become winner number three

THREE races into the GIACC's 2014 road race series and there have now been three different winners.

As the popular runs dropped down to 5k in Saumarez Park yesterday morning it was young Danny Ray who took the honours in a time of 17min. 3sec.

Middle-distance specialist Ray, who has been nursing an Achilles injury of late, initially allowed fellow junior Ed Mason to stay with him over the first of the four circuits. But by halfway he had opened up a lead of 6sec. and the race already looked all but won.

Having clocked 4min. 4sec. for the first lap, Ray eased away despite easing off the pedal.
