Jersey sides reject Jeremie dates

GUERNSEY football officials have sympathy with Jersey clubs who have spurned the chance to play Jeremie Cup quarter-finals at the end of next month, preferring to wait until next spring's inter-island Condor schedules.

The League Management Committee had hoped to play all four quarter-finals, called off last weekend due to the ferry chaos, on Saturday 31 October.

But three of the Jersey clubs have declined, requesting that they wait until Condor release next year's sailing schedules, before agreeing to anything.

'It's part of a bigger picture which is out of our control,' said the LMC's Andy Robert.

'It is very frustrating for anyone organising competitions and fixtures,' he added.

The problem is that while Guernsey can schedule the games for the last day of October, there is no day-return boat trip that day. It would be a case of fly up and boat back.

But with the Jersey sides holding Condor vouchers after being let down last weekend, they naturally do not wish to pass those up at more expense to them.
