GFC captain Tardif suffers double leg break
GUERNSEY FC suffered their biggest setback yet yesterday as they lost goalkeeper Chris Tardif for what looks set to be the remainder of the season with a broken right leg.
The injury – confirmed last night as a break of the tibia and fibula, which will require surgery today – came a few minutes before half-time of yesterday's 1-1 home Ryman South draw with bottom side Godalming Town, as the Green Lions climbed out of the relegation zone, but only on goal difference.
Speaking after the game in which Jack Mazzone cancelled out Kyle Smith's opener for a share of the spoils, GFC manager Tony Vance expressed his sympathy for Tardif.
'All I can do at the moment is wish Tards the best because it is a massive setback for him and us.'
