With a franchise operated by Creasey's, the first department opened on 7 April 1967 selling 'St Michael' products from the basement of Creasey's quayside store.

The business has since expanded to offer customers the best of Marks & Spencer across womenswear, menswear and home in a 25,000sq. ft flagship store in St Peter Port, a St Peter Port Food Hall and Simply Food stores in St Martin's and at L'Islet.

Last year it began an online delivery service delivering the best of M&S clothing direct to customers' doors, as well as opening a new store in Le Bordage that specialises in everything for children.

In April 1966, Creasey's was appointed as M&S official agent in Guernsey.

This was the catalyst that enabled the first M&S department to be opened along the seafront with a number of 'St Michael' products the following year.

Islanders embraced the St Michael offering from the start and in the next few years more and more lines were introduced, offering customers in Guernsey more variety and choice.

Marks & Spencer's outstanding quality food has been popular since its introduction.
