Vale sixth in Alpen Cup

VALE REC's under-14s return from Austria on Monday having placed sixth of 15 teams at the international Alpen Cup event in Wolfsburg, Austria. In their final game of the week the yellows lost 1-0 to the Danish side Kolding Bold Klub.

The only goal of an even game played in front of a big crowd at the town's main stadium, came early in the second half.

The overall honours went to a team from Hungary who beat the talented Polish side on penalties.

Earlier in the week, the Poles had beaten Vale Rec. 4-0, leading to coach Tony Clarkson saying that they were much better than anything Vale had come across in Guernsey football.
