Women add KO wins to Le Quesne dominance
LE QUESNE may spell annual misery for the Guernsey men's team, but at least the Sarnian women have the measure of their Jersey counterparts.
LE QUESNE may spell annual misery for the Guernsey men's team, but at least the Sarnian women have the measure of their Jersey counterparts. On a cracking weekend for the Guernsey women they not only regained the women's Le Quesne Trophy by 119 shots to 104, but they also collected eight of the nine CI knockout trophies up for grabs.
Leading the way was Alison Merrien .
She was one of three winning skips in the Le Quesne played at the Corbet Field and the following day she eased past Jean O'Neil 21-10 in the CI Singles final.
She also had a hand in the Select Fours success, her squad winning 14-13.
Guernsey scooped all the women's singles showdowns with age-group wins for Jo Rose and Pam Harding and a novice success for Lyn Small.
The Guernsey men suffered in comparison.
Having lost the Le Quesne match they were swept aside in the CI men's knockouts, winning just one of the six matches, the triples.
