REFEREE James Falla sent off three players in an explosive 2-2 draw between the Vale Rec and Port City Railway League sides at the Corbet Field. Vale debutant Joe Salgado had already been dispatched for foul and abusive language towards the referee when the home side's Gavin Clark and City's Gareth Cranshaw followed him for fighting near the end of the game.

Earlier, Steve Mahy and Mark Romeril had given Vale a 2-0 lead, only for Glen Mourant and Ricardo Vasconcelos to peg them back to 2-2.

The shock result of the night came at Blanche Pierre Lane, where leaders St Martin's slipped up 2-0 to Rovers, who move up to third.

Paul Philp and Jamie Sarre grabbed the goals for the visitors, which was good news for second-placed North, who beat Sylvans 5-2 at Northfield.

Steve Bienvenu scored twice for North, who close to within three points of Saints with two games in hand.

Mark Bisson, Neil Fitchet and Bobby Loaring were also on target for North with the last two named both scoring a penalty and missing one.

Northfield will also be the venue for next week's two re-arranged big school cup finals.

On Monday, St Sampson's and Grammar clash in the Aztec Cup, while on Wednesday, Elizabeth College and St Peter Port meet in the Spiller Shield.

Both games kick off at 6pm.
