THE prospect of winning a likely Youth Three championship medal was not enough to persuade Ashley Williams and Matt Le Prevost to stay with North. The highly-rated pair have returned to Sylvans, their original club, much to the disappointment of North president Dave Finn.

Williams' reasoning for a move was highly unusual.

Having not conceded a goal all season, he sought a transfer simply to get more action.

'The reason he put on the form is that he doesn't have enough saves to make,' said the North president.

'The club was prepared to give him some games in the Youth Two to increase his involvement, but he still wanted to go,' Finn added.

'I'm sorry he's going because he's not a bad keeper.'

One player staying with North, who boast a 100% record in Youth Three, is Rene Brun.

The player, who was looking to go to Rovers, has agreed to North's suggestion that he gives it at least another month at Northfield.

Ben Whitchurch's move from Rovers to Vale Rec has also been approved by the GFA, but despite a personal hearing, island under-18 player Brent Marquand's bid to switch from Saints to Bels was rejected.

Bels, who are vying with North for the Youth One title, are also linked with striker Dale Webb, but it is understood Sylvans will oppose the transfer.
