TWO generations of Boscher were on the scoresheet for North in the Jackson League on Wednesday night. The chocolate-and-blues kept their astonishing unbeaten record, which now stretches to 16 months, with a 3-1 win over Vale Rec - Rod Elmy's goal being added to by both Dudley and Jason.

It was the first time the father-son pairing had played a full game together and the goals capped a memorable night, but dad Dudley was quick to acknowledge whose strike was the better.

'Jason's, without a doubt. He took his very well - mine was a header,' he said.

Dudley, 34 and a former Guernsey player, still plies his trade up front and has appeared as a substitute for the club's Priaulx side on a couple of occasions this season.

Jason, 17, is a cultured midfielder and an integral part of the club's push for the Youth One title. Earlier this month he featured for Tony Vance's Island under-18 side for the first time.

And Dudley is certainly enjoying getting the opportunity to play alongside his son before his own career finishes.

'It gives you a little bit of a buzz to be able to play in the same team as your son. He has come into his first year of Youth One while my playing days are coming to an end, so it is good to get the chance,' he said.

But there is perhaps a slight touch of envy in Dudley's voice when he talks of Jason's talent, although he will ensure his son's feet are kept on the ground.

'As long as he works hard at his football, he will be fine. The natural ability is there,' he said.

'I know he can play but if I do not think he is working hard enough in a game I will have a word, more encouragement than anything else.

'All you can do when you have talented kids around is encourage them and let them do what they can with the ball.

'Some of the stuff they can do is incredible.

'We have some good kids at North and there is a decent mixture of seniors and juniors in the Jackson side. Some of the kids are pushing for Priaulx places.

'It is a good set-up at North, the best in the island,' he said.
