Cautious Fallaize not celebrating yet

THE ball is back in St Martin's court.

THE ball is back in St Martin's court. Three wins in their remaining three matches, the first of which is at home to Bels tonight, will earn the black-and-whites the Priaulx Cup following Sunday's surprising turn of events.

Saints coach Colin Fallaize is looking forward to the challenge in a typically positive frame of mind, but he is aware that it is a tough task not to drop any points on the run-in.

'If we go into the North game still in with a chance and beat them, then it will be ours and we will have earned it.'

Tonight, Saints will be without island midfielder Jan Renouf, who is suspended, and there are doubts over Mark Coutanche, Luke Allen and Vijay Wiltshire among others.

On the plus side, they will have their Junior Island players available and Fallaize is hoping Nick Edmunds will be back.

'We are going to go into the game the same way we went into Saturday's. We went into Saturday with a belief that something was going to happen and that we had to do a job. We will just look to continue that,' said Fallaize.

'Bels have helped the situation because they have taken points off North and that shows their capabilities. They have got some good players and we will be just as aware of them as we are of any team.'

But even if Saints fail to take maximum points from their remaining fixtures meaning the title will be North's, Fallaize is delighted with how the season has gone.

'Our benchmark was a Wheway Cup spot and a bit of stability. We have surpassed that and the good thing is the players have enjoyed their football.'

Also playing tonight are Vale Rec and Sylvans at the Corbet Field, with both sides looking for a Wheway Cup spot.

The westerners currently hold the all-important third place in the table, a point ahead of Vale, who have played two games more.
