JIMMY WOOD and Andy Privett have taken an unassailable lead in the inaugural Powerade Premier League at the Guernsey Tennis Centre. Two victories in a week have lifted them five points clear of nearest challengers Ian Robinson and Chris Hickling.

Firstly, they were taken all the way in a highly-charged match against Richard Smeed and Neil de Kock.

The latter pairing played their best tennis of the campaign and took the first set 6-4. They then took an early lead in the second before being caught and overhauled 7-5.

Wood and Privett went on to take the decider 6-4.

The leaders followed that victory up with a more straightforward 6-2, 6-2 win over the youngsters, Dominic McLuskey and stand-in Arrian Green.

Meanwhile, the league has been bolstered by the arrival, via Jersey, of South African Pieter Theron.

Playing with two different partners, Theron has won two out of two to date, dropping just one set in the process.
