Thriving club celebrates league treble

LA MARE Tennis Club is celebrating one of its most successful seasons, perhaps the best, in its long history. It ended the Fletcher Sports League season winning the Division One titles in the men's, women's and mixed sections.

The men and mixed teams cruised through the campaign, but it was a different story for the women. It went to the wire for them.

Having lost to Kings One in their first match, they had ground to make up in order to retain the title which they did by avenging that early loss in the final match of the season.

Next year La Mare, which plays on seven courts at the secondary school and prides itself on being friendly and well-managed, celebrates its 30th anniversary.

It currently has 90 adult members and 100 juniors. There is a waiting list for juniors but new adult members, of any standard, are always welcome.
