SYLVANS maintained their advantage in the Cable & Wireless Priaulx League with a 'frustrating' 2-1 win over Rovers. Adie Exall gave the westerners a first-minute lead and an avalanche of goals was expected when Matt Warren added a second. But Rovers, playing five defenders and just one man up front, held out, and managed a consolation from Steve Ewins from a corner.

'It was totally what I expected,' said Sylvans coach Joel Avery. 'They defended and made it difficult for us. I was pleased with the three points but not so happy with the performance.'

The mercurial Trim Morgan was sent off again as Vale Rec came from behind to beat Rangers 2-1.

Referee Mark Fallaize also showed red to Rangers Matt Solway for a tackle on Morgan, who was dismissed for an alleged punch after a follow-up tackle.

Rangers took the lead through Morgan Cluett, but Gareth Holden equalised and, following the red cards, James Coquelin secured the three points with a 20-yard strike.

Vale coach Chris Hamon felt that his team were dominating the game, even though they fell behind.

But for Rangers boss Mac Gallienne, the red cards robbed his side of a point.

'I thought we deserved more out of the game,' he said. 'The sendings off changed the game. We lost our sweeper and it threw us out of sorts.'
