It's all radio ga ga ahead of big clash

TRIM MORGAN has been in charge of North for only seven days and, it seems, already he has got up Micky Ogier's nose. The man who took over North last week was speaking on Island FM yesterday ahead of their big game with Bels today at Northfield having dislodged their rivals at the top of the table during the week when they beat Rangers 3-1.

Morgan simply stated that Ogier's side will find it difficult this afternoon.

'They are going to find it hard to come up to us with the form we're in at the moment,' he said.

But Ogier was bemused by the comment as his team are currently sitting three points behind North in the Priaulx but have three games in hand.

'I heard Trim Morgan on the radio this morning say that they are in a good run of form,' he said.

'Now if drawing with Vale Rec and only beating Rangers 3-1 is a good run of form, he wants to have a look at us. We've scored over 25 goals in the last five games.

'We're confident we're going to win. They have played three more games than us and that's the only reason why they are top.'

Bels captain Leighton Chainey echoed his boss' sentiments on Morgan's claims and he hopes that his team can repeat their performance when they were 3-0 up at Northfield before the game was abandoned due to a fire in a floodlight pylon.

'It made me laugh when I heard on the radio that they are the in-form team,' he said.

'We haven't lost for 21 games or so in the Priaulx. They should be more worried about us after what we did to them the last time.

'We had beaten them 2-0 in the league and then we were 3-0 up after half an hour. We want to do the same again hopefully.

'We'll try and attack them like we did last time.'

While Morgan may not be flavour of month at Bels he is already proving to be a hit with his new team.

North striker Jon Veron has welcomed Morgan's relaxed approach and says that the team now believes that they can build on their first two results under their new coach and go on and take the title.

'He's really positive and really enthusiastic and everyone is enjoying it,' said Veron.

'He's got a lot of respect from when he was playing. He's put in a lot of time and effort and you get out what you put in as a coach.

'I definitely feel we can go on and win the league.'

North go into the match with only Simon Johns out with injury, but there is a question mark if Darren Martin will start. The right back has been under the weather recently with a bug.

Veron is up for the game and so are his teammates.

'I'm looking forward to it,' he said.

'Everyone likes big games like this. What's the point of playing if you don't think you are going to win.'

On the other hand, Bels go into the match with a full squad available bar Marc McGrath, who is suspended.

Darragh Duffy comes back to the fray after being away for a month and the Guernsey striker is certain to start. Ogier will have to decide whether Billy Page or Danny Felbabel partners the Irishman up front.

Page will probably get the nod after a couple of good performances of late.

But the question is whether Ogier thinks that the game is a title decider?

'Not for us it isn't, but it is for them,' he said.

'They have got to win it. If they lose then we've got three games in hand and then we could go nine points clear.

'The pressure is on them.'
