MICKY OGIER begrudgingly admitted 'it's ours to lose now' as his Bels side took a massive step towards the Priaulx League title with their 3-2 victory over North. The result put the blue-and-whites equal with the chocolate-and-blues on points at the top of the table, but they have three games in hand. They are yet to lose in the league.

'I am over the moon - not just for me, but for the players and the supporters of Bels. They have been waiting 45 years for something like this to happen,' Ogier said.

'It is a year to the day that we have been unbeaten in the league. That's a good performance from the lads and a testament to them. They have worked really hard.'

After Darragh Duffy had given the visitors a 1-0 half-time lead at Northfield, further goals from Billy Page and Paul Ramsden made headers from Jon Veron and Tom Duff mere consolations for the home side.

'We were the better side. We fully deserved to win,' was Ogier's assessment of the game.

'Both teams were very competitive, which is good for Guernsey football, but I thought we had the edge.'

North coach Trim Morgan, who hugged Ogier after the game, praised his players despite the defeat.

'Fair play to Bels, they were sharp in the first half and we were punished, but our team spirit was good and we played our football in the second half.

'A clean sheet is our next target.

'To score two goals should be enough to win games.

'But we are not throwing the towel in until the fat lady sings.'

In Saturday's other Priaulx matches, Rangers beat St Martin's 3-2 at St Andrew's while Vale Rec hammered Sylvans 5-1 at St Peter's.
