GUERNSEY will look to do even better than last year when they face Jersey in the Channel Islands Indoor Bowls Finals at the Hougue du Pommier stadium this weekend. The event is a series of 'Upton' clashes as the victors of both island's various championships take on each other.

Twelve months ago the greens came away with six of the 10 trophies on offer but missed out on the big two - the men's and women's singles - when Nicky Donaldson fell to John Lowery and Alison Merrien was denied by Alison Camacho.

The pair have the chance to make amends as they both are back representing Guernsey in the singles. Donaldson this time is up against Jersey's prolific under-25 bowler Jamie Macdonald and Merrien will do battle with Gaynor Thomas.

The winners go through to the British Isles Champion-ships to represent the Channel Islands where last March in Prestwick Merrien and Lianna Bichard picked up the women's pairs title.
