Chancers rest skip, but still win
CHANCERS continued their winning ways with an emphatic win over Head Hunters.
CHANCERS continued their winning ways with an emphatic win over Head Hunters. They had things all their own way despite resting skip Nicky Donaldson and went into the last end 39-9 ahead.
Large sums of money were wagered on whether Chancers would reach 40 or Head Hunters would reach 10 and the former won the day with a single to win 40-9.
Lucy's Lads held on to a 16-8 lead to beat local four Pistol Knights by a single shot at 16-15.
Lucy Beere skipped the successful side but was given a run for her money by young Kris Bichard, who had Keith de la Mare at lead, father Steve at second and brother Shaun at third.
Celtic Warriors also managed a comfortable win over Scorpions by 21 shots to 10. Ryan Mountstephen again shone in converting many ends which John Wallis, Richard Hill, Ralph Deakin and John Martel had built between them.
Hill said that he was 'gutted' that Deakin had made so many conversions to such devastating effect.
Warriors had Lianna Bichard guesting for them again and she joined Nick Davies and Graham Laing in the victorious side.
Islanders kept up their winning streak by beating Alcopops in a closely-contested game which saw Michael Merritt and Steve Edwards shine at the back end.
The Alcopops had opened up a four-shot lead, but Islanders pegged that back and went ahead by five.
The tactical game saw Merritt play some superb conversion shots on the short jacks and he was desperately unlucky to lose two on the 17th end and to make only two on the 18th.
