VALE REC have caused the first real surprise result in the C&W Youth Two league by drawing against North. The chocolate-and blues had gone 2-0 up early in the match, but two goals from Deana Bodie on either side of the break levelled things for the

yellow-and-greens and gave them a deserved point.

Although without the influential Matt Loaring, North still could call on talented individuals such as Scott Bougourd and Nigel Hutton.

North's under-16s have been tipped to sweep aside all before them this season and were on top early on.

'They dominated us, to be fair,' said Vale coach Tony Clarkson.

'I was well pleased with the draw after being 2-0 down. Both sides would agree it was a good game.

'It keeps the league open. We play them in the cup soon and if both sides carry on, it should be close.'

As the league stands after four games, North are sitting at the top on goal difference from Clarkson's lads.

'At the start of the season, I didn't expect us to be doing so well,' said Clarkson.

'We've got a few new players like Deana Bodie, Nicky Buddle, Ryan Collis, Dave Henry and Tom Godfrey and they have made a huge difference. It's all going well at the moment and hopefully they will maintain it.'

While North might not be having it all their own way in Youth Two, in Youth One it is a different matter.

They are five points ahead of second-placed Sylvans and with a game in hand.

In Youth Three, Rovers have a 100% record from four games.

Amazingly, the Ian Ozanne-coached outfit have yet to concede a goal.

'We've seen quite a change in our youth structure and we're now starting to see the fruits of that,' said assistant coach Kevin Masterton.

'Also some years you get a good group and some years you get a bad group. This year we've got a great group and Ian Ozanne has been involved with them from a very early age.

'It will be nice to think we've got a chance of doing the triple.'
