CONTROVERSY surrounds the choice of Andy Cox as referee for tomorrow's under-21 Ambassadeur Bowl match against Jersey at Springfield. The Jersey team manager, Peter Vincenti, has sent a letter of complaint to the Football Association at Soho Square.

Vincenti and his management team do not want Cox to officiate in the game because of recent events stemming from a trial match played at St Ouen.

Refereed by Cox, the official later reported both the Jersey management team and St Ouen manager Steve Pallett to the Jersey Football Association for spurring their players on to bad behaviour.

On Thursday, Vincenti called into question Cox's appointment for the under-21 fixture only for the JFA to reply that neither they or the inter-insular committee had the jurisdiction to impose a change of appointment set by the referees' committee.

Meanwhile, Guernsey have drawn Suffolk in the third round of the FA County Youth Cup.

Paul Ockleford's under-18 side, who defeated Hertfordshire in the previous round, travel to the home of Woodbridge Town on Saturday 9 December.

Two goals from Lee Mealing and another from Jamie Toussaint shot Bels to a 3-2 win over C&W Jackson League leaders Vale Rec at the Track last night.

The result lifts Bels to within a point of the Corbet Field side who are now joint top on goal difference with Sylvans.
