THE number one seed in the 2006 Eddie Herr International in Florida proved tantalisingly just too good for Heather Watson. The 14-year-old Guernsey star was unluckily edged out by top seed Karena Paliivets in the second round of the ITF ranking tournament.
Played at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, Watson pushed the Canadian close in the first set before losing in the tiebreak, 7-6.
She responded by showing some mettle to take the second 6-3 before succumbing in the third, 6-3.
Today, the Sarnian features in the doubles with her partner Annie Mulholland from the USA.
They are taking on the Mexican pair of Rebeca Aguirre Soto and Karen Hernandez.
After this week Watson's attention switches to the biggest event of the year, next month's Junior Orange Bowl.
