ALEX LE PREVOST, 18, has been named in Guernsey's provisional squad to face the RAF in the South West Counties next month. 'I'm pleased to get the call-up, especially as it was unexpected,' said the North midfielder, who celebrated his 18th birthday last month.

'I've been playing not too badly. Playing with the senior lads at an island level will be a good experience and hopefully I'll learn a lot.

'I'm looking forward to it, even the training.'

Coach Steve Ogier said Le Prevost had earned his place after some good performances for North and for the island under-21 team in their November age-group Muratti win. He believed the teenager could do a job in the centre of the defence or the midfield.

'Alex did well in the under-21 game. Also he's quite versatile,' said Ogier.

'He can play centre back or midfield so we're covering all the bases. I see him more of a centre back. He did very well in that position in the under-21 game.

'He's got a good attitude and if he had to come in and play, I wouldn't have a problem with that.'

Guernsey are set to take on the RAF on Wednesday 17 January at Foote's Lane. Ogier will reduce the squad to 16 leading up to the clash.

Along with Le Prevost, another notable addition is North's target man Simon Tostevin. The 6ft 5in striker has been a revelation at Northfield this season since moving from Rovers during the summer.

'Not only because he's so big but he's pretty good on the deck as well. He's not just a one trick wonder.

'He gives us a different option if we go down that route.'

Sylvans under-21 right back Sam Matthews makes the squad as do St Martin's pair Chris Mauger and Kevin Graham.

Injured duo Matt Warren and Gavin Le Page have also been named. Le Page is due to be back in action soon while captain Warren is rumoured to be out until February with knee cartilage problems. 'I wanted to keep him involved,' said Ogier.

'I don't expect him to play in January but I do expect him to come back at some point. It's good to keep everyone together.'
