THE final of the Braye du Valle, the prestigious inter-club matchplay competition, could be delayed. Scheduled for tomorrow, the match will be put back if Junior Club captain Tom Le Huray wins his semi-final against Sean Mills.

Le Huray is already committed to leading the Guernsey juniors in tomorrow's CI final of the Hampshire Sevens against the Royal Jersey at Grouville.

In the quarter-finals of the Braye du Valle, Le Huray defeated Chris Thompson 3 and 2, while Mills beat Bobby Eggo on the first extra hole.

In the top half of the draw Danny Carre, another junior, beat Rainer Schimek 2 and 1 and will now play Laurence Graham for a place in the final.

Graham beat Matt Walker 4 and 2 to reach the last four.

Junior club president Colin Le Huray has named an unchanged team for the Hampshire Sevens showdown, the juniors having beaten L'Ancresse in the Guernsey final and, before that, the Royal.

The team is: Tom Le Huray (captain), Sam Le Huray, Craig Shorto, Elliott Corbin, Jamie Le Page, Will Davidson and Danny O'Brien.

Grouville has already been a graveyard for Guernsey golfers this week.

In the CI women's matchplay final Sue Wellfair, the Guernsey champion, crashed 18 and 17 to the Jersey title-holder Jenny Deeley.

The La Moye star was 14 up at lunchtime in the scheduled 36 holes final.

'I played steadily throughout while Sue did not have the best of days,' said Deeley.

'It was good that I lost the first hole because that gave me focus. In the end I played the course and not the opponent because Sue was having an off day.'

In the bronze division match, Les Mielles' Mary Marr defeated the Guernsey champion, Wilma Nicolle, 7 and 6.
