NICKY DONALDSON'S recent return to outdoor bowls was given a boost as his team reached the Tostevin Triples semi-finals. Lead Alan Gibson was in fine form after discovering that the rink was one-handed over the first five ends and that forced the opposing Owls team (Paul Wakeham, Tony Sargent and Dave Netherton) into heavy tactics.

For most of the game they proved to be effective, much to Donaldson's obvious annoyance.

However, his superb ability to draw to a displaced jack was too much for the opposition and a five gained on the 13th end helped his team, which was completed by Nigel Collins, to a 19-11 win.

Moonrakers (Paul Sargent, Derek Hurford and Geoff Savident) kept their title hopes alive at the Guernsey Bowling Club with a fine 18-11 win over the BLC team of Don Batiste, Mick Cleal and Dan

Le Cheminant.

Brats, who lost to Falcons in the fours the previous evening, gained their revenge in the triples when Roy Queripel, Sid Le Maitre and Mac Timms beat Matt Le Ber, Daniel de la Mare and Garry Collins in an equally tough match.

All square at 14-14 with three ends to go, the Brats scored on two of the last three ends to win 18-15.

The trio of Mick Hullock, Kevin Cook and Peter Tranter came from 7-12 behind to beat Stan Simon, Ken de Moulpied and Mick Yabsley by a single point 16-15.

Woodhard Triples champions Angela Bartie, Mavis Tardif and Jan Lawrence lost their title by going down to Anne Simon, Lyn Small and Peggy Fish in a reversal of last season's final result.

Simon's Phoenix team started with a five on the first end and were not caught until the 11th when the scores were tied at

12-12.

However, another five shots on the next put them well ahead again and the Delancey Parkers managed to score on only one more of the last seven to lose 25-14.

The Les Petits Bois team (Sally Tranter, Gwen de la Mare and Shirley Petit) beat Wethree (Kath Mahe, Carol Besnard and Marie Le Feuvre) in a fine 26-6 win, the former scoring on 11 of the 17 ends played.

Alison Merrien, Sally Paul and Michelle Le Clerq also went through to the semi-finals with a narrow two-point win over Jolly Jacks (Jackie Nicole, Wilma Le Feuvre and Pauline Leadbeater).

The former were 5-0 up after five ends, then level at seven and 15-9 up at 14.

Four singles on the last four ends by the Jacks were not enough and the Wonder Women are in the semis 15-13.
