GUERNSEY bowlers go into the final day of competition at Hougue du Pommier with realistic hopes of finishing with four gold medals. In today's finals not only does Lianna Bichard challenge for the singles title so, too, does Gwen de la Mare's unbeaten quartet and the pair of Carol Ingrouille and Shirley Petit.

The four made it three wins out of three yesterday with a 27-14 victory over Orkney which looked inevitable from early on.

That victory guaranteed the Sarnian women the overall team gold. The Isle of Wight take silver and Shetland the bronzes.

De la Mare's four now meet the unbeaten combination from the Isle of Wight which has Lucy Beere as their skip.

Today's finals will see the men's and women's fours start at 9.30am followed by the singles and pairs at 1.30pm
