'IF BELS slip up' has become the favourite saying among the chasing pack. The problem for them is that 'if' is a big word.

The Priaulx League leaders are showing no signs of flagging. In fact, they are looking virtually unstoppable as their 6-3 win away to Sylvans on Saturday suggests.

Micky Ogier's embarrassment of riches was in full evidence as, despite being without star striker Marc McGrath who became a father that morning, Neil Clegg scored five at St Peter's, with Mark Laws adding the sixth.

Meanwhile, nearest challengers St Martin's were involved in a cracker at Blanche Pierre Lane against North with new recruit Chris Chamberlain scoring direct from a corner in injury time to give the hosts a 4-3 victory.

'I thought we were the more dominant team and deserved it overall, although they always posed a threat,' said Saints boss Colin Fallaize.

'I am pleased to keep in contact with Bels. A draw would not have been any good to us today.

'We have got to keep in a position where we can take advantage should Bels stutter.

'We have got to keep focused. We will gladly take these three points and move on to try and take the next three.'

North striker Simon Tostevin finally made his return from a long-term knee injury, but admitted that he is now looking to help the champions win other silverware.

'I think the league has gone now and we have got to look at the FA and Jeremie cups,' he said.

'But we have to continue to look to win every game just in case Bels do slip up.'

In the other Priaulx match on Saturday, Rangers beat Vale Rec 3-0 at St Andrew's.
