HEATHER WATSON has helped Great Britain to qualify for the junior Fed Cup.

Representing GB at the under-16 European Summer Cup finals in Leysin, Switzerland, the 16-year-old Sarnian won her singles and doubles match with Tara Moore against Romania yesterday.

The victory saw them progress through to the semi-finals, but more importantly it ensured that they will now face the best U-16 tennis teams in the world at the junior Fed Cup next month in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

'I'm really excited and pleased,' said Watson. 'We're going to do well for our country.'
