HEATHER WATSON has reached number 66 in the world's junior rankings.

Thanks to a sensational summer, it is the 16-year-old Guernsey tennis star's highest-ever under-18 girls' ranking.

She had started the year in 324th spot. Watson is also the third Briton on the list after 14-year-old Junior Wimbledon champion Laura Robson, who is number six, and Jade Curtis at 55.

Prior to the Junior US Open which ended last weekend, the Sarnian had a ranking of 75.

But victory over American Lauren Mchale in the first round saw her leap nine places.
