CHANTELLE FRITH starred with three titles at the Island Closed Championships. In the women's event at the Guernsey Tennis Centre, the absence of long-term Guernsey champion Jo Robinson enabled her usual opponents to have an opportunity of winning the prestigious titles.
Frith grasped this opportunity to win a hat-trick of trophies. In the singles final she defeated Deborah Smith 6-4, 6-3 and, teaming up with doubles partner Helen Wills was able to defeat Smith and Carly Tucknott in a final-set championship tiebreak 10-7.
Frith's third final victory came in the mixed doubles where she teamed with top junior Nicco Robinson to defeat Andy Hart and Louise Inder 10-8 in a dramatic final-set tiebreak.
The championships had attracted a particularly strong entry in the men's singles, which was divided into a qualifying event and main draw.
