HEATHER WATSON can be proud of her efforts in only her second appearance in the main draw of a ITF Women's Circuit event.

The Sarnian star reached the semi-final of the Aegon Pro-Series tournament in Felixstowe at the weekend.

In the quarter-finals she came through a tough match against number four seed Raffaella Bindi from Italy.

Having won the first set 6-3, Watson was then taken to a decider as her opponent claimed the second 6-4.

However, the Guernsey girl kept her nerve to take the third 6-4 and earn a spot in the last four.

In the semi-finals Watson came up against the in-form Anna Smith.

The number two seed, who is ranked 394 in the world, had dropped only nine games in three matches before facing Watson and she maintained that form to reach the final 6-1, 6-4.
