HEATHER WATSON has claimed her first senior title.
The 17-year-old Sarnian star showed just why grass is her favourite surface at the Aegon Pro-Series event in Frinton as she came from behind to defeat Anna Fitzpatrick 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to win the $10,000 title.
Watson, yet to gain a senior ranking, had to win two qualifying rounds to guarantee a place in the main draw in Essex.
Watson, who is currently the highest-ranked British girl in the junior rankings, had a comfortable route to the final, dropping just 13 games in six matches before facing a tough encounter with Fitzpatrick, a former Wimbledon junior semi-finalist.
