HEATHER WATSON collected the biggest scalp of her fledgling senior career in Louisiana yesterday.
In the first-round proper of the $25,000 Hammond Tournament she won a three-set epic against former world number seven Nicole Vaidisova, of the Czech Republic, and a Wimbledon quarter-finalist in both 2007 and 2008.
Watson, who won 4-6, 7-6 (10), 7-6 (4), now plays the fifth seed Monique Adamczak.
