Watson through to the last eight

HEATHER WATSON marched into the quarter-finals of the ITF Tour event in Jackson, Mississippi, beating another seeded player in the process.

Watson beat Austria's Melanie Klaffner, ranked nearly 200 places above her in the world rankings, 6-1, 7-6 (3) and can now look forward to a clash with France's Claire de Gubernatis, ranked 321, 95 spots above the Guernsey girl.

But there was bad news in the douibles where Watson and Laura Robson lost heavily to the No. 3 seeds from Argentina.
