Competing over the standard distance duathlon of 10km run, 40km bike and finishing with a further 5km run, Rowe claimed ninth place overall in the field of over 400 of the UK's best duathletes at the event, which combined being a World Championship qualifier and a National Points Ranking Series event thus ensuring top quality competition.

Rowe, 44, had shrugged off a back/hip injury, which hampered his KPMG Easter Runs competitiveness, and won his age group by more than four minutes.

'I was pleased first and foremost to get one of the three available qualifying slots and it was an added bonus to get a really solid performance out – running freely again was a welcome pleasure,' said Guernsey's Commonwealth Games star.
