HEATHER WATSON will have a realistic chance of progression at her first senior Wimbledon next week.

The young Sarnian, the first islander ever to play in the main draw, faces Italian Romina Oprandi, a 24-year-old ranked number 140 in the world.

Although she has been as high as number 46 in 2006, the Italian clay specialist has declined rapidly since then.

She has also never progressed beyond the first round of any of the four Grand Slams she has appeared in, with her last appearance in one coming at the French Open back in 2007.

However, she will be no pushover for Watson, who only last week produced arguably the best tournament of her life to progress to the second round in Eastbourne, winning four matches in total.
