Death threats follow men's savage beating

'TELL the police and I will kill you and your family. I'll go down for four years but when I get out I'll be back looking for you.'

'TELL the police and I will kill you and your family. I'll go down for four years but when I get out I'll be back looking for you.'

That was the threat delivered by one of two men sentenced to a total of more than 13 years in prison for serious and violent criminal behaviour.

Joe de Garis, 24 and Daniel Kaines, 22, who pleaded guilty to three indictments, were jointly charged with assaulting Martin Hallett and Roger Hatwell on 5 June. They appeared for sentencing in the Royal Court and each received four years for those assaults.

Kaines was further charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, for which he received another 18 months.
