LA MARE de Carteret school was evacuated this morning after a bomb threat.

Chief Inspector Nigel Taylor said that just before 9.30am the school received a call about a threat of a device.

Pupils were evacuated to the playing fields as a precaution.

'Police are assisting with a search of the school and will try to ensure a return to normality as soon as possible,' he said.

'The children and staff are safe and well – enjoying a slightly longer playtime – in the sunshine.'
