VIVIEN JONES will compete at the Horse of the Year Show after qualifying for the national final of the Search for a Star competition.

Torteval resident Jones won the Show Hunter class with Masterclass III at the Badgworth Arena, Somerset, and will now compete alongside seasoned professionals at the prestigious show at the NEC, Birmingham, in October.

Jones and nine-year-old Masterclass III, also known as Herbie, fought off stiff competition to win the qualifier.

Self-confessed OAP Jones said she had dreamed of going to the Horse of the Year Show since she was five. 'It is only since I have had Herbie that I decided to have a go, and it was mainly to give him a break from dressage,' she said.
