FIVE people were rescued by Alderney's lifeboat after their motor cruiser caught fire seven miles north of the island.

FIVE people were rescued by Alderney's lifeboat after their motor cruiser caught fire seven miles north of the island.
Varga Girl was towed into Braye Harbour by the RNLI's Roy Barker I at 2pm yesterday. The 35ft Portland-registered boat had been heading for Alderney.
Skipper Nick Moger, chairman of insurance company Young Marmalade, his wife Helen and son Adam were on board, along with Adam's friend Richard Bucknall and Bob Elliott, of Portland-based Quality Time Training.
Mr Moger, from Tintinhull, near Yeovil, was undergoing motor cruiser training with Mr Elliott on the voyage.
