FOUR of the country's top 1000cc sidecar crews will be in the island tomorrow to test the Vazon Bay track for next year.

The Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club is hosting next year's British championship for 500cc solo machines and is hopeful of including the sidecars.

Anthony Bougourd (pictured), one of Guernsey's top riders, approached the club early in 2006 with the idea of running a big meeting which included national and international riders from the UK. This became the annual Condor Ferries Sand Ace.

Next June will also see the return of the British championship – which has not been competed for since Bougourd won it in 1992 – after UK motorcycling's governing body, the ACU, awarded it to Guernsey.
