Winterburns enjoy the Vazon flats

NUMBERS for the final meeting of the 2011 season were reduced due to the counter-attraction of the Alderney motor sport weekend and a family wedding.

But the addition of the four 1000cc sidecars enlivened the event.

From the very start, as they took to the sand for two practice sessions, the sidecars showed that though this was to be a demonstration it was not going to stop them from going flat out.

It was obvious from the beginning that the father and son pairing of Rod and Gareth Winterburn on the Ducker Yamaha R1 grass track machine was more suited to the nature of the flat but wet sands of Vazon, winning all five of the demonstration races.
