EDUCATION will next week ask the States for a vote of confidence, in the wake of the GCSE results saga.

Four of five members of the board have offered their resignations for debate in an emergency billet released this morning which, if accepted, would trigger an election.

Minister Carol Steere and deputies Tony Spruce, Matt Fallaize and Mike Collins have all offered to resign, with only David De Lisle standing firm.

Deputy Steere and deputies De Lisle and Collins were unavailable for comment, but Deputy Spruce (pictured) , as second-in-command, said he would stand for re-election if the opportunity arose.
