HUNDREDS of former pupils and staff packed Les Beaucamps High School as they took the chance to say goodbye to the building.

The old school - which opened in 1958 - will be pulled down in August and pupils will start next term in the new building under construction next door.

The open day yesterday was due to start at 11am, but people were queuing up at 10.30.

The school had printed 500 leaflets to give to visitors, but these had all been given out within half an hour.

Headmaster Peter Le Cheminant said the turnout had been wonderful.
