FLYBE will drop its Guernsey to London Gatwick service from March next year, the airline announced this morning.

It has sold its arrival and departure slots to Gatwick to Easyjet for £20m.

Flybe said it would continue to operate as normal all of its seven domestic routes, including its 34 flights a week from Guernsey, until Saturday 29 March 2014, with no changes to pricing, frequency or timings.

The airline blamed the 'regrettable' decision on a 102% rise in airport charges, air passenger duty and the lack of aviation policy.
